After the Fendi SS21 show in Milan, we tried Adele Fendi’s lemon pesto pasta recipe, handed down to Silvia Venturini Fendi and photographed by Antoine Harinthe.

Glenn Martens chose the blank canvas of Galeries Lafayette Montparnasse’s abandoned premises to present a collection exploring intricate Y-shaped silhouettes, while Sacai’s Chitose Abe dived into space images and the archives of American textile designer Alexander Girard to conceive a collection based on exploration and transformation.

Nina Ricci & Coperni AW20, Paris
At Nina Ricci, Lisi Herrebrugh and Rushemy Botter explored the work of early 20th century painter Kees van Donger, mixing soft femininity and men’s tailoring, while Coperni’s Arnaud Vaillant and Sebastien Meyer provided totems of the “now” with a collection highly inspired by technology.

Leonard Cohen’s “I’m Your Man”, David Bowie’s “Absolute Beginners”, Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” were all part of Haider Ackermann’s Autumn/Winter 2020 – a modern tribute to his all-time favorite songs.

2019 LVMH Prize finalist Kenneth Ize put local artists and craftsmen under the spotlight by showcasing aso oke, a traditional and sustainable Nigerian fabric used to create ceremonial clothing.

Marni & Missoni AW20, Milan
Marni’s creative director Francesco Risso took an Alice in Wonderland inspiration into the sphere of sustainability with a collection created as the result of patching up scraps of fabric, while Angela Missoni explored the work of Edwin A. Abbott to bring geometry to the Milan runway.

Jil Sander AW20, Milan
Lucie and Luke Meier presented their collection in a vast industrial space in Milan’s Via Bramante, soon to be transformed into the largest design museum in Europe. With the museum set to open this year, the Jil Sander artistic directors took an opportunity to merge their love for design and their contemporary fashion through a scenography recalling the game of musical chairs.

Proenza Schouler AW20, New York
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez kept things minimal for Autumn/Winter 2020. In a New York space overlooking the West Side Highway, the Proenza Schouler duo presented a collection of 35 silhouettes characterized by their general off-the-shoulder shape and the label’s own definition of sexy-dressing for the new decade.

Sies Marjan AW20, New York
Dutch designer Sander Lak presented his Autumn/Winter 2020 collection a few days before the opening of Countryside, The Future at New York’s Guggenheim Museum. The exhibition explores remote territories to better address the challenges of our urban society. A partial sponsor of the exhibition, Sies Marjan reflected on countryside and city-living by initiating collaborations both on and off the runway.
