A Magazine Curated By presents a new body of work by the Cameroonian artist Samuel Fosso featured in SAMUEL FOSSO, the photographer’s first large-scale retrospective exhibition at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, France.
Also published inside A Magazine Curated By Grace Wales Bonner, Autoportraits II (Fosso Fashion 2021) is a response to Fosso’s previous series Autoportrait (1975) and his self-portraits for Vogue Hommes (1999) reanimated within the context of contemporary fashion.
Recreating Fosso’s historic set design in his Paris studio, these new images feature a selection of Wales Bonner archival silhouettes in dialogue with other ready-to-wear and accessories collections, underlining Grace Wales Bonner’s exploration of luxury via a hybrid of European and Afro-Atlantic approaches.
Each issue of A Magazine Curated By Grace Wales Bonner features 1 of 8 limited edition Samuel Fosso gloss photographic prints inside.
SAMUEL FOSSO continues at the
Maison Européenne de la Photographie until March 13th, 2022
