HIROSHI FUJIWARA

For the 30th issue of A Magazine Curated By, Hiroshi Fujiwara brings together the many worlds he inhabits as a designer, musician, collector and friend. We begin in Tokyo exploring the neighbourhoods, record shops and personal collections that form the foundation of his references. Hiroshi Fujiwara opens his home and archives, returning to his hometown of Ise, revisiting formative influences and shares these pages with artists, musicians and friends.

Much has been written about Hiroshi Fujiwara’s influence on contemporary culture, but rarely has he shared what acts as catalyst for his ideas. This issue looks closer at what interests him: the music that stays with him, the cinema that makes him think, the things he dreams of and the people whose ideas lead him somewhere new. His selections are personal — sometimes unexpected — and offered with the hope to elicit curiosity in the reader.

Standard and limited editions

Alongside the standard edition, 300 limited-edition copies include an embedded NFC chip and an exclusive 45 rpm vinyl record from Big Crown Records, featuring Fujiwara’s two new remixes of ‘What’s On Your Mind’ by Thee Marloes. The NFC chip gives readers access to speculative objects and garments by VVS Tools™ in three dimensions.

‘WHAT I LIKE MOST. THE THINGS I LOVE. THE THINGS I ENJOY.

IT’S ALL HERE. AND I WANT TO SHARE IT WITH YOU.’

– Hiroshi Fujiwara, on his experience of curating the issue.
