‘Untitled (Fortune Cookie Corner)’

An initiative of the Félix González-Torres Foundation and Andrea Rosen Gallery

A Magazine Curated By presents 1 of 1000 off-site installations of the work ‘Untitled,’ (Fortune Cookie Corner) by the late Cuban artist Félix González-Torres in Paris, France. An initiative of the Félix González-Torres Foundation and Andrea Rosen Gallery, this unprecedented collective effort sees galleries, museums, foundations, collectors and art enthusiasts across the world enact a simultaneous group exhibition of Torres’ seminal work from May 26 – July 5th, 2020.

Torres, who identified as gay and died from AIDS-related illnesses in 1996, created numerous stacked, comestible sculptures of candies and posters – inviting public engagement in his works that spoke often of public and private grief. This initiative was conceived by Andrea Rosen in April 2020 amidst lockdown measures during the Covid-19 pandemic, as a gesture of solidarity and the proactive diffusion of an artist’s legacy beyond the walls of the traditional structures of the art world.

Other participating institutions and individuals include: Modern Art (London), National Museum of Fine Arts (Havana), Glenstone Museum (Maryland), KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin), David Zwirner Gallery (New York), Hagiwara Projects (Tokyo), Galerie Gisela Capitain (Cologne), Kunsthalle (Hamburg), Caroline Bourgeois (Paris), Fondazione Sandretto de Rebaudengo (Turin), A4 Arts (Cape Town), Rabin Huissen (Rotterdam), HISK (Ghent), Plus One Gallery (Antwerp), Magasin III (Stockholm), Hettie Judah (London),  SMoCA (Scottsdale), The Embassy (Brussels), de la Cruz collection (Miami), Regen Projects (Los Angeles) and Hanya Yanagihara (New York).
